CPDO Supports United Way’s ‘Stuff the Bus’ Program
What is Stuff the Bus?
Stuff the Bus is a program from United Way providing students in Rutherford and Cannon counties in Tennessee with the tools to begin school prepared and confident. Early childhood education plays a vital role in every aspect of our adult lives, determining income status, state of health and even incarceration rates.
The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties’ Stuff the Bus has provided over 22,000 local students with school supplies since 2012.
This year 33,000 items were collected, and there were 90 volunteers who helped organize the donation of these supplies for deserving families in Tennessee!
Why did CPDO get involved?
Not only do we focus on the oral health of young children, we also care about the overall health of our patients. We understand that receiving a quality education early in life will help set up that child for success in the future. The same also goes for dental hygiene!
We at Cumberland Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics want to engage with our local communities. When we heard about United Way’s Stuff the Bus, we knew this would be a perfect opportunity to get involved! We had enlisted both of our Murfreesboro and Smyrna locations as drop-off sites for supplies, and encouraged our team and patient base to bring in supplies to donate. We also had 6 volunteers attend the Sort-a-Thon to help sort and fill back packs with supplies.
CPDO hopes that by providing support for important initiatives like Stuff the Bus that we also help create a future where all children are equipped to receive quality education.
