Dr. Ruth Bol was raised in Bakersfield, CA. She graduated from Cal-State Bakersfield Magna Cum Laude in 2000 and received a full Indian Health Scholarship for undergraduate studies and dental school followed by the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco where she graduated in 2003. After graduation, Dr. Ruth worked with American Indian Tribes as a Dentist and Dental Director in Washington and Arizona’s underserved communities. She then attended UCLA for her pediatric residency while participating in the Maternal Child Health Bureau leadership program and receiving her master’s degree in Public Health. Dr Ruth was awarded the 3M ESPE Research fellowships from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and selected to participate in the American Dental Association Diversity and Leadership Institute.
Dr. Ruth is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists, serving on their Inter Professional Committee, as well as being a member of the American Dental Association. Dr. Ruth was inducted into the American College of Dentists fellowship and is also the Past President of the Society of American Indian Dentists and remains involved in their national outreach efforts.
Dr. Ruth currently is the Chair of Pediatric Dentistry at Meharry Medical College. She continues to be involved with the American Association of Pediatric Dentists (AAPD), serving on their Diversity and Inclusion Task force. Dr. Bol is also an Associate Professor at Western University School of Health Sciences and continues to be involved in organized dentistry.
In Dr. Ruth’s spare time she enjoys exercising, competing in Latin and ballroom dancing, and enjoyed a small stint doing stand up comedy.
